As long as I can remember, I've cared about the environment. It was my passion for sustainability that sparked my interest in historic preservation. Studying preservation gave me an opportunity to understand building reuse and the environmental impacts of new construction, and I wrote my master's thesis on how zoning and land use policies have encouraged the reuse of buildings and their materials.
I began learning about community engagement a few years back, realizing it was a part of the planning world that I could transition into. In 2018 I applied for and was awarded an RFP for community engagement with the City of Long Beach, which has allowed me to continue this work.
I would like to transition my career into planning and land use long-term. I'm ready to make the switch!
